Things are continuing to happen with the Spring Solarize Garland Program.
We have formed and RFP Team. This team is composed of five Solarize Garland Participants who volunteered to write on RFP (request for proposal) and send it to qualified PV solar installers. The RFP is coming together quickly and should be ready to send out sometime next week. When the responses come back from the PV installers the team will evaluate them and use the information to select an installer. The goal is to have PV solar going onto our roofs before the worst of the summer heat and electricity bills hit us.
People are continuing to enroll in Solarize Garland. We have 19 people who have enrolled thus far. Enrollment is open through April 30. If you haven't yet enrolled we encourage you to do so. Click HERE to enroll.
Solarize Garland is encouraging solar PV installers who are interested in participating in the RFP bid process to register with Solarize Garland. The registration form is available through the "Enroll" page tab on this site or by clicking HERE.
Solarize Garland is encouraging everyone to spread the word about Solarize Garland, the group purchase project and solar energy. Tell your friends and neighbors about us.
Solarize Garland is an grass roots volunteer organization of Garland citizens whose purpose is to increase awareness and use of solar energy for electricity generation in Garland.

Update - Moving Ahead
Solarized Garland continues to enroll
participants in the PV solar group purchase project. We now have enough participants to begin the
process of selecting a PV solar installation company. The process starts with the writing of an RFP
(request for proposal) by volunteers form the participants.
The Solarize Garland group purchase enrollment is
open until the end of April. To Enroll, Click HERE. Enrollment does NOT obligate
you to purchase a PV system. However, it
will help you learn if you home is suitable for solar, the size of the system
you will need and the approximate cost of the system.
On March 13 Solarize Garland held another
information session. Garland Mayor Doug
Athas attended. After the meeting Mayor
Athas posted the following on his Facebook page:

Solarize Garland - Enrollment Update
The Solarize Garland enrollment is off to a good start and moving
forward. Twelve people have already
enrolled in just two weeks. Enrollment
will remain open through all of March so there is still time to be part of the
program. We are hoping to get at least
20 people enrolled.
Enrollment means you want to learn about PV solar for your home. It will help you decide if a PV solar system is right for you and your home. It in no way commits you to purchase a PV solar system. However, by participating in the program, it should make the purchase of PV solar easier and more affordable if you decide you want a PV system. The decision is yours. Enroll here.
The homework assignment for people enrolled or thinking
about enrolling is now on the Solarize Garland site: click here.
The homework assignment will help you
determine if solar is right for your home and the size of the system you will
need.
A general information meeting will be scheduled for
March. A date will be provided as soon
as a meeting room is secured.
In the mean time, help spread the word about Solarize
Garland to your neighbors, friends, family, church groups, civics group, school
groups, etc.

The Solarize Garland Project is now OPEN for enrollment. You can enroll in the project and potentially
go forward with participation in this group purchase to have PV Solar installed
at your home. Enrolling in the Solarize
Garland Project does NOT obligate you to purchase a solar PV system.
---- CLICK HERE to ENROLL ----
For more information about Solarize Garland and the Solarize
group purchase see the Kickoff Meeting presentation on this site. (Click here for presentation)
<Note: If you are a solar installer/integrator company
interested in the competitive bid process (RFP) for the 2014 Solarize Garland

information.>
The tentative timeline for the project is given below.
Open Enrollment – February 6 through April 30, 2014
---- CLICK HERE to ENROLL ----
The project will proceed to completion if we have a minimum
of 20 enrollees by March 29, 2014. The
more people that signup and elect to have PV solar systems installed, the
larger the potential group purchase discount.
Solarize Garland will plan an information session in early
March for those that enroll or are thinking about enrolling. Solarize Garland can arrange to have
information sessions for your HOA, church or civic organization too.
If you are thinking about enrolling you should review and
perform the home Homework Assignment posted on the Solarize Plano website:
Homework Assignment. The homework
assignment will help you decide if you home is a good candidate for solar and
the size of the system you need. Also, Review
the brief list of Frequently Asked Questions - see Solarize Plano Project
Frequently Asked Questions. Enroll on
the Solarize Garland site: ENROLL HERE.
.
Reminder - we need at least 5 enrollees to participate in
the solar installer selection process as part of a RFP (request for proposal)
Team. Please consider being part of the
RFP Team.
Solarize Garland is focused on Decision Point 1 now. Decision Points 2 and 3 are presented to
provide a complete project view. As the
project moves through the Decision Point 1 process, enrollees can decide if
they want to move forward through Decision Points 2 and 3.
No later than April 30, 2014
After doing your homework and participating in information
sessions, you determine that you are a good candidate for a PV solar system.
You then decide to proceed with a home site assessment and obtain a quote from
the project selected company.
May 1 to 31, 2014
You have reviewed the contract provided by the project-selected company and you sign the contract to proceed with the installation.
Installations: To begin in June 2014
